Oh, come on. I doubt Republican lawmakers are so thin-skinned as that. Besides, mocking George Bush is one of their favorite hobbies, too!
Unfortunately, your attempt to drive a narrow path through this thicket of economics, legislative maneuvering, and Presidential politics leaves out far more than it reveals. The key action on the first vote failure was that the Dems announced a bill without getting the Republicans on board -- hardly the spirit of bipartisanship. The Worst Congress Ever (9% approval rating) in action. Pelosi & Co. DO put politics ahead of not only the country, but economic good sense. Economic illiteracy a lack of statesmanship add up to a failure of leadership in our hour of great need.

The Democrat's campaign trail reigns fire on the Republicans and diverts the attention away from Obama's pro-Fannie/Freddie campaign managers.
Pelosi sabotages the pre-game voting with her anti-Republican, anti-capitalism speech.
McCain neglects to mention that a bill he sponsored back in 2005 would have given regulation and independent oversight on Fannie and Freddie.
Republicans are still reluctant to vote in new Senate bill due to enlarging government spending and socialist agendas.
